Sparks of 2026 #13: The "BattleShip" Solar Flashing
We loved this product as soon as we saw it. Based on an extremely popular solar flashing system already distributed in multiple stockists across the UK, the thing about this latest clever pants product - it was made for the installers.
DEKS Industries, who have their UK base not far from the magazine headquarters in Bristol, really listened to feedback from installers before designing this version of their popular flashing. Smaller, easier to install, and crucially - there's a twist.
It's so new, you can't even buy it yet, but when we got the tour around the fitting at the Solar and Storage show in October, it was clear this was going to be a winner.
The funky design is not by accident. The linear flashing fits neatly into tiles and makes far more sense than a circular flashing profile. The twist is, it's no longer made of lead and is going to market available in two forms, sticky fast flashing and an adhesive free version that performs like lead - but isn't.
On top of the phenomenal form factor, the construction of the cable holes makers it perfect for the full range of solar pv cabling as well as other cables common in security and camera installations.
The design of the flashing, make it just a fair bit easier to install. And you can see it's been designed with longevity in mind. It's very much a fit and forget product.
User feedback is often ignored when it comes to product design, but for three reasons we love this new product.
- It looks good.
- It's incredibly robust - after filming it we tried to batter it. It was bombproof.
- It actually is lead free, one less toxic product on your roof.
For this reason we reckon that the new design and proven track record of DEKS fast flash products in fact the whole SolarDek™ range - this one is one to watch out for in 2026 and makes no #13 on our list of Sparks of 2026.
