Freedom Heat Pumps: Closes down as financial pressures become visible

Freedom Heat Pumps: Closes down as financial pressures become visible
Turnover figures recorded in Companies House filings.

Multiple senior figures within the UK heating sector are indicating that Freedom Heat Pumps Ltd is closing down.

At the time of writing:

đź”´ No formal filing has appeared on Companies House

đź”´ Certas Energy has been approached for comment (see below)

đź”´ No official confirmation has been provided

What can be verified from public records is the financial trajectory.

Freedom Heat Pumps scaled rapidly following acquisition by Certas Energy (holding >75%), reaching turnover of ~ÂŁ15.7m in 2023.

However, subsequent accounts show:

Turnover falling to ~ÂŁ11.8m (2024) and ~ÂŁ5.8m (2025)

Profit declining from ~ÂŁ686k (2023) to ~ÂŁ238k (2024)

A shift to loss-making in 2025

This suggests a business that grew quickly, but then came under increasing financial pressure.

The company was originally founded by Graham Hendra, who described the evolution of the business as moving from a “delicatessen” model to a “supermarket” a shift that significantly changes the operational demands of distribution at scale.

If confirmed, this raises wider questions, not just about one company, but about how heat pump distribution is being scaled across the UK.

Certas Energy has been given the opportunity to comment and this piece will be updated if and when a statement is received.
