Nathan Gambling Teased It - It's Big "Zero Disrupt" From the Geeks

An AI-driven design tool backed by real-world data claims to slash the cost and disruption of heat-pump retrofits and it has already caught the attention of one of the installer sector’s biggest voices.
When Nathan Gambling hinted to his audience, that Heat Geek were about to drop something game-changing, the installer world sat up. That teaser alone told us it was worth paying attention.
Now the launch video has landed, and the claims are bold: a “Zero Disrupt” design platform that could make a heat-pump swap as quick and as cheap as replacing a gas boiler.
Why It Matters
For years, the three barriers to mainstream heat-pump retrofit have been up-front cost, disruption in the home, and the long design cycle.
Heat Geek say they have tackled all three by combining:
- A “liar-room” scanner heat-loss app for rapid, accurate surveying.
- A national live-monitoring network of previous installs that lets them guarantee real-world efficiency.
- An AI-driven heating-system designer, now built into the iPads that Heat Geek-trained installers carry.
“We built a system that enables 60 % of homes to have a heat pump for less than the cost of a boiler swap — sometimes even for free. These installs are also way faster, way less disruptive, and literally guaranteed to hit the efficiency you want.”
- Adam Chapman
Claimed Results from Pilot Installs
- 40 % fewer parts needed to reach the same efficiency.
- 50 % less time on site - typically a few days instead of one-to-two weeks.
- Far fewer radiator or cylinder swaps.
- Costs after BUS grant in the £3–4 k range — often close to boiler-swap prices.
“On the hundreds of homes we’ve tested Zero Disrupt on, it gave us 40 % less parts for the same efficiency… and reduced customers’ cost of pay by 75 % — from nearly £12k down to around £3k.”
Adam Chapman
Data + Human Skill
The AI generates the leanest specification, but the company stresses that Heat Geek-trained installers are still essential:
“Without a Heat Geek the algorithm wouldn’t get implemented properly. Without Heat Geeks this system simply would not work.”
“Geeky came out on top owing to their more realistic heat-loss calculation… not one single radiator change was proposed for our install, and of course that final price of £2,150.”
A Shift in Customer Experience
Traditionally homeowners have waited weeks for designs and often had to commit before knowing how well the system would perform. Heat Geek say Zero Disrupt flips that experience:
“Whether it’s a breakdown or a home visit, you get the cheapest, least disruptive design instantly — without the endless emails or waiting weeks.”
Adam Chapman
Policy Context
The economics work at this scale largely because of the £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) grant. Heat Geek warns the grant pot is finite and unlikely to match the long-standing subsidies for fossil gas. For many homes, the window for ‘boiler-money’ heat-pumps may be short-lived.
For Complex Homes
For properties outside the 60 % that fit the Zero Disrupt profile — such as larger, harder-to-treat homes, self-builds or cascade systems — the company is rolling out a bespoke Heat Geek Black Label service.
What We Think
There's been rumours of a greenlash, We think they're over egged. But seriously. If you could get a heat pump with almost no risk of failure. You would. Wouldn't you?
